The search is on to find next year's beneficiaries for the Sheffield Half Marathon and Sheffield's Great Fun Run.
Race organisers are planning ahead to find a host of good causes to benefit from funds raised from the 2007 race day next Spring.
For further information, Interested charities should apply in writing, including a short overview of the work the charity is involved in and the benefits it brings to the people of South Yorkshire, by Friday, 15th September 2006.
Unlike previous years, a number of good causes will be chosen to become the lucky race beneficiaries. In previous years one or two charities per year have been chosen by the race's board of trustees.
Margaret Lilley, Secretary to the Board of Trustees, said: "We are appealing for charities to come forward and apply for the prestigious title of Half Marathon and Fun Run beneficiaries.
“This year we have decided to spread the funds across a number of charities so even more good causes can benefit from the two races.
"The event is a real chance for these good causes to not only benefit from an essential cash boost but also increase their profile and the work they do across South Yorkshire."
Help a Hallam Child was chosen as the beneficiary of the 2006 Bright Finance sponsored event. The figure raised is due to be unveiled at the presentation evening in October.
Applications should be sent to Sheffield Half Marathon, 150 Worksop Road, Swallownest, Sheffield, S26 4WE.
