Star names sign up for half marathon

Tom Jones, Daniel Radcliffe, Ian Wright, David Bailey and Phil Daniels have all signed up for the 2010 SIG Insulations Sheffield Half Marathon.

But it’s not the famous Welsh singer, Harry Potter actor, former Arsenal star, celebrity photographer or former Eastenders actor.

These are their lesser known namesakes who, as keen runners, are busy pounding the streets training for the half marathon in April.

They are among 1,500 athletes who have already entered the race, taking place on Sunday 25 April, which will raise funds for 10 local charities.

Ian Thomas, entries co-ordinator said: “This year’s half marathon has really captured the imagination of all types of runners from people who love running in their spare time to the more serious club athletes.

“The popularity of the race is increasing year after year so we want to encourage people to sign up sooner rather than later to ensure that they don’t miss out on a place.

“As more and more entries come in these famous names just stood out – although we would love to see a real celebrity or two join in the fun for these good causes!”
