Route Topography
The Don Valley Bowl is a grass amphitheatre which has been terraced to give a spectator viewing area. Located behind iceSheffield and between the Motorpoint Sheffield Arena and the English Institute of Sport, the Don Valley Bowl has a dedicated Supertram stop and will be a perfect focal point for the 2014 event.
The start will be on Attercliffe Common, with runners lining up in Coleridge Road and then turning right to the start line. Runners will run towards Meadowhall Shopping Centre, before turning towards the city centre. The route will travel past Ponds Forge International Swimming Pool, up Commerical Street and out past the train station towards Bramall lane.
After leaving London Road, runners will run up Cemetery Road onto Summerfield Street and then join Ecclesall Road , where runners will be travelling in both directions. The turnaround point will be near Hunters Bar Roundabout.
Runners will return to the city via Devonshire Green, past the Town Hall, on to Norfolk Street then out of the city centre past Ponds Forge on their return to Attercliffe. Runners will enter the Don Valley Bowl via Terry Street and then run on the grass to the finish.
The course is run on public highways, a small section of which is cobbled.
