Frequently Asked Questions
Before the Race
Do I have to support the listed charities?
We urge you to support our nominated charities as they provide the volunteer support and administration services which are essential to stage the race. However, you are free to support your own charity if you wish, but please do not collect sponsorship within the start/finish area at the Don Valley Stadium
How can I find if my entry has been received?
Select the drop down menu 'Enter' > 'Am I Entered?'
This list is updated on a weekly basis, so it can take a few days for a runner to appear in the list.
If you cannot find yourself or the person you are looking for then telephone the entry hotline 0845 388 3438 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
I can no longer take part. Can I get a refund or transfer the entry?
Refunds are not granted in this race. You can transfer your entry (without charge) to another runner but it is essential that we receive full details (as per the entry form) of the new runner. Click on the 'No longer able to Compete?' button on the left hand side of the home page to let us have details of the swap. Any payment for numbers must be between the original entrant and the new entrant.
No runner should wear a race number belonging to another runner as this could incur grave consequences in the event of a medical emergency.
Is there a time limit?
The time limit for the Half Marathon is 3 hours. If the sweep bus, travelling at the 3 hour rate, overtakes you, then you will be asked to board the bus to the finish. If you decline, then the roads will be re-opened to traffic, the marshalls will disperse, directions and drink stations will be dismantled and your race insurance will cease to provide cover.
Should I drink more?
It is important to start your race fully hydrated. Try drinking a little extra for a couple of days before race day. On race morning make sure you have plenty of drinks (but give yourself time to go to the loo before the start!)
Take a drink at every feeding station to keep your hydration level as high as possible whilst you run.
