Richard pulls on his running shoes at 65 for good cause

It’s been a couple of years since I‘ve run, but this yea'rs SIG Insulations Sheffield Half Marathon is so important because it is an opportunity for me to raise money for Sheffield Wildlife Trust.
I believe passionately in the excellent work the Trust does in protecting our local natural environment. This year is especially important, not only is the Trust in the process of raising money to purchase Greno Woods to safeguard it for its wildlife and for the people of Sheffield, but public sector cuts are having a serious impact on the finances of charities like Wildlife Trusts.
I’m hoping for a good run on Sunday May 8 and to be securely under 2 hours, but I’m now 65 and so I’ll get nowhere near the sub1h 30m times I used to manage in the 1980s. Injury-free training that’s what I need now!
Do sponsor me (http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/RichardPethen) – or one of the other runners raising money for Sheffield Wildlife Trust – and help sustain our living landscapes for the sake of our wildlife and for the people of Sheffield and Rotherham.
